Land Board recognised as the best open data provider in 2019

On the 7th of March, Open Data Day was celebrated all over the world for the tenth time. It is an opportunity to show the benefits of open data and encourage the adoption of open data policies in government, business and civil society.

For the first time in Estonia, best open data providers of the year were announced. Under the auspices of MTÜ Open Knowledge Estonia, the Estonian open data community nominated the Land Board as the best open data provider of 2019. The Board Member of MTÜ Open Knowledge Estonia Maarja-Leena Saar said that the Land Board has been a long-term leader in the industry, and has set the bar high with its geoportal, map applications and spatial data. Open data users appreciate in particular the fact that the Land Board’s data are machine-readable and available in formats required by the users.

To better meet our customers’ and the society’s demand for high quality spatial data, topographic data, including LIDAR scanning data and ortophotos, and cadastral data have been available as open data since 1 July 2018.
