Department of Real Estate Valuation
Land valuation is a procedure with which the value of land is determined for the purposes of land transactions, investments, taxation, compensation and land management (planning). The aims of land valuation are: - availability of objective real property transaction data for the whole Estonia for land and property administration
- creation of an optimum land (property) assessment system and its further development in order to make the assessment a continuous process and ensure a better availability of assessment results to the public.
The main function of the Department of Real Estate Valuation is to organize the performance of assessments and to manage assessment results. The main task is accompanied by the following duties: - management and development of real property transactions database
- maintenance of land quality and assessment map
- improvement of land (property) valuators qualification (and development of a control system for assessment results)
- informing the public of the situation on the real estate market
- consulting other state agencies on real estate matters
In its work the Department proceeds from the Land Valuation Act, Land Cadastre Act and other land valuation related legislation.
